Ivan,

As you know Scalix acquired and re-architected the product known as HP OpenMail from Hewlett Packard for the Linux platform back in 2002 which is now known as Scalix. HP Openmail was an enterprise e-mail messaging and collaboration product from Hewlett-Packard, originally designed in 1987. It was well known for its ability to interconnect several other APIs and protocols, including MAPI, cc:Mail, SMTP and MIME, and was originally based on the OSI standards such as X.400. In addition to e-mail, it also supported directory, public folder and contact management functionality. It was notable for being supported not only on HP-UX, but also on IBM's AIX, Sun Microsystems' Solaris and Linux, which increased its attraction for enterprise customers.

Since then Scalix has been deployed to millions of users. That said Scalix is no joke. Scalix is now owned by Xandros. Check out the latest on Xandros (below) with their development of System Management Packs for Microsoft, which was announced in Las Vegas last month. I think Microsoft see's the need for a Linux and heterogenus management as their trojan horse into the data-center, square footage traditionally dominated by IBM. Scalix is a piece of this overall puzzle. By the way, both Scalix and Xandros are well regarded for seamless transitioning of Windows users.

Good Luck,
Peter
