HI Ed,

Software companies don’t typically have that number.

Training or Education is generally looked at more holistically, I’m sure that number does exist, but it’s not very meaningful. Some of the reasons are that; training is often highly negotiated and can be given away or highly discounted as part of a software license deal, training is very often mixed in with the Professional Services line; also the training personnel is often responsible for training to end customers, internal training and training to partners, so the direct correlation of training to a particular product of solution can really get skewed.

I would suggest pulling the last few years 10-K reports of several representative software companies and they all should report Training/Education as a separate line item, sometimes you’ll see it mixed in with Professional Services.

You’ll see that you can look at training as a percentage of overall software revenue, but not associated with a particular software product.

The 2010 Oracle 10-K reads: "Education revenues represented 1% of our total revenues in fiscal 2010 and 2% of total revenues in fiscal 2009 and 2008, respectively".

Other software company 10-K’s will have a similar summary or you can get the number right off the income statements.

Good Luck,
Peter
