In the Web 2.0 world there are so many ways to share information. One of these is references. They usually take the form of short snip-its of information. Also, they sometimes fall into the category of simple exchanges between associates.
However, there was once a time (not that long ago) when employers actually sat down and wrote real letters of reference for both current and past employees.
I specifically mention ‘current’ because it was not that uncommon that when you were looking for another job to advance your career it was something that you shared with your employer and they were appreciative and always helpful in your efforts – often becoming your best allies.
I was lucky enough to save two of those letters.
1- Herzfeld & Rubin P.C. (1987)
2- Sargoy Stein & Hanft (1985)
